I, like you, am deeply shocked and heartbroken by the tragic and fatal fire that occurred at Tillett Close over the weekend. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the loved ones of Nusrat Usman, her daughter Maryam Mikaiel, and her two sons, Musa Usman and Raees Usman. This is an unimaginable loss, and our entire community mourns alongside their family and friends.
The events of Saturday morning were deeply distressing. In the face of such pain, the unity and strength shown by our community has been truly moving. I want to thank everyone who has come together to support one another during this difficult time.
I also extend my sincere gratitude to the emergency services for their swift and decisive response. Firefighters and police arrived at the scene within six minutes, with eight engines and seventy personnel working tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further harm.
