Pride in Place: Investing in St Raphael's Estate and Harlesden

I'm really pleased to share some positive news for St Raph's and Harlesden.

We've secured £20 million of long-term funding for St Raph's and Harlesden: Each area getting £2 million every year for the next decade!

It has been selected to benefit from the Government’s Pride in Place programme, bringing long-term investment to improve our neighbourhood and support local priorities.

This is a major opportunity to deliver real change where it matters most: cleaner streets, safer communities, better spaces, and stronger local services.

But the most important question is simple:

What matters most to you?

A Community-Led Approach

Pride in Place is about putting local people at the heart of decisions. Instead of top-down plans, this investment will be shaped by residents, community groups, and local voices.

That means:

  • Listening to your experiences of living in St Raphael's Estate or Harlesden

  • Understanding the issues that matter most day-to-day

  • Working together to create practical, lasting improvements

Your input will help guide how funding is used, from quick local fixes to bigger long-term projects.

What Could This Funding Support?

The programme is flexible, but it focuses on:

  • Improving public spaces and local environments

  • Supporting community facilities and activities

  • Tackling safety and anti-social behaviour

  • Creating opportunities for young people and families

  • Strengthening local organisations and community life

I’m also carrying out a skills audit, can you help?

Whether it’s painters, decorators, electricians, gardeners, carpenters or any other skilled tradesperson, or social media people who can document the project, anyone who may be able to help – please ask them to come forward and fill in this online form

And if anyone wants training in a skill, I want to hear from them as well – especially if you’re a young person not currently in employment, education or training. Or an older person wanting to get back to work.

This investment an opportunity to use the skills of the older generation to teach the younger generation and vice versa. Where neighbours use their skills to upgrade and maintain their community. This is about local people not just having a say but playing a part.
