Dawn Butler MP Member of Parliament for Brent Central and Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities

Dear Friend,
I have been fighting for the people of Brent Central as your MP since being elected in 2015. My office has dealt with over 15,000 constituents’ queries and problems, and I’ve taken issues important to the people of this area right to the top – as with the Pre-Pay Rip-off campaign that has helped save money every day for families using pre-pay meters. I was also thrilled to be voted Labour MP of the Year by the Patchwork Foundation this year and DIVA magazine “Ally of the Year”. This was in recognition of my work to make Parliament accessible to all, because I truly believe that Parliament is there to represent the people of this country and should be working in the interests of the many, not the few.
I’m grateful to the people of Brent Central who showed their support for Labour by re-electing me with an increased majority in last June’s General Election. This reflects the need of the people of Brent for a new government, one that cares about what happens to them. The Labour Party is determined to hold Theresa May’s weak and unstable government to account, and I want to be a strong voice in Parliament for you.

When you're on the ladder of success, you should lay the foundations for an escalator, and if you're on that escalator of success, you should lay the foundations for a lift, so women coming behind us can get to the destination faster.
