Fighting for the people of Brent East
Following the 2024 General Election I was elected as the MP for Brent East. It has been my privilege to represent the people of Brent Central since being elected in 2015. Thank you for placing your trust in me once again to represent our community in Parliament.
My office has dealt with over 47,000 constituents’ queries and problems, and I’ve taken issues important to the people of this area right to the top – as with the Pre-Pay Rip-off campaign that has helped save money every day for families using pre-pay meters. I was also thrilled to be voted Labour MP of the Year by the Patchwork Foundation this year and DIVA magazine “Ally of the Year”. This was in recognition of my work to make Parliament accessible to all, because I truly believe that Parliament is there to represent the people of this country and should be working in the interests of the many, not the few.

IT'S TIME TO END THE CYCLE OF MOBILE PHONE THEFTS
📱 Over 80,000 mobile phones were stolen in London in 2024 alone.
That’s tens of thousands of people left without their phones — and in many cases, feeling unsafe, violated, and let down.
I’ve heard from countless people, including fellow MPs, who’ve experienced this. I’ve also had my own phone stolen — so I know how frustrating and frightening it can be.
Too often, these phones end up in the hands of organised criminal gangs who unlock and resell them, sometimes overseas. And the companies who could stop this — mobile networks and tech giants — aren’t doing enough to help.
That’s why I’m calling for urgent action. I want mobile phone companies to be required to block stolen phones from being reactivated. I want tougher rules and real accountability so phone theft is no longer a low-risk, high-reward crime.
But I need your help to show there’s public support behind this.
