This week, I joined 95 fellow UK Parliamentarians in signing a letter to the Prime Minister calling for sanctions on Israel in response to its war crimes against Palestinians and continued violations of international law.
This wasn’t a decision I took lightly. Like many, I’ve watched in horror as communities across the West Bank are subjected to forced displacement, starvation, and violence. What’s happening is not random — it’s systematic. It's a strategy to erase Palestinian presence and dismantle any hope of a just peace.
The letter calls for targeted sanctions, a ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements, and a suspension of the UK-Israel trade agreement. These are concrete steps our government can take to stand against the collective punishment of Palestinians and to bring some measure of accountability.
We have a moral responsibility to act. Successive governments have known what is happening on the ground.
