On Wednesday 4 June, as Prime Minister’s Questions took place in the Commons, I stood outside Parliament with thousands of protesters for the ‘Red Line’ demonstration organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Alongside fellow supportive MPs, we joined a powerful collective call: for the UK Government to impose sanctions on Israel and immediately halt all arms sales.
As a Member of Parliament, I believe it is not only our duty to speak out in the chamber but also to stand shoulder to shoulder with those demanding justice. Forming a human red line through Westminster was more than symbolic — it was a visible message of moral urgency.
We were united in grief for the lives lost in Gaza, in outrage at the ongoing breaches of international law, and in determination to end the UK’s complicity. The timing — during PMQs — underscored just how pressing this issue is. While they debated inside, the public’s voice echoed just outside: enough is enough.
We cannot turn away. We must act. And we must ensure that justice and humanity remain our red lines too.
