It was great to see more than 1,000 local residents sign this petition opposing Sainsbury’s new parking restrictions in Willesden. These changes are threatening the future of the High Road at a time when we should be focused on regenerating our town centre and supporting local businesses.
This is the only real town centre parking in Willesden, and these restrictions affect not just Sainsbury’s customers, but also the many independent shops, services and businesses that rely on people being able to visit the High Road easily. Sainsbury’s is an essential part of our local community, and I believe they should think again and reverse these parking changes.
I was very happy to join local campaigners in delivering the petition and supporting this campaign, which shows just how strongly local people feel about protecting our high street and the independent businesses that make Willesden special.
I also look forward to chairing a meeting between Sainsbury’s and the local community later next month so residents and businesses can make their voices heard directly.
