I continue to work closely with organisations such as Big Brother Watch and Liberty on ensuring that the civil liberties of civilians are not infringed upon. This past week we have held debates in Westminster Hall on the police use of Live Facial Recognition technology, I raised serious concerns about people who have been wrongly identified.

There may be fewer cases, but there's no such thing as no misrepresentations and it's easy to lower the threshold. If we are to restore public faith in our police, we need to know that the technology they deploy is not falsely judging innocent people as potential criminals.
That is why I hosted a meeting in Parliament with Big Brother Watch UK, Liberty, and Professor Pete Fussey, an expert in surveillance, technology, rights, security, and criminology. The meeting was an opportunity for them to brief Labour MPs and Peers on the dangers posed by the use of Live Facial Recognition technology.
