This month I once again joined survivors, bereaved families, campaigners and members of the local community for the annual Grenfell Silent Walk. Eight years on from the tragedy that claimed 72 lives, we came together to remember those who lost their lives and stand in solidarity with those still seeking justice.
Grenfell must never be forgotten. It was a preventable tragedy that exposed profound failures in housing safety, regulation and accountability. While reports have been published and recommendations made, many families are still waiting for those responsible to be held to account.
As I continue to say, justice delayed is justice denied. Eight years is far too long for bereaved families and survivors to be waiting for the accountability they deserve.
I will continue to stand with the Grenfell community in their pursuit of justice, accountability and lasting change, so that no community ever has to experience such a tragedy again.
