I’m continuing to champion the West London Orbital (WLO), a practical, shovel-ready rail scheme that would unlock growth across west London and beyond. I was delighted that the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has committed new funding to move the project forward, alongside partners including Brent Council. With Government backing, construction could begin as early as next year.
The WLO would create a new London Overground route linking Hounslow to Hendon, improving connections across communities including Neasden, and connecting into HS2 and the Elizabeth line. It would cut journey times, support thousands of new homes and jobs, boost productivity, and take hundreds of thousands of car journeys off our roads each year.
This is smart, affordable infrastructure that makes use of existing rail lines and delivers growth, opportunity and cleaner air. I will keep pressing the Government to give the green light so we can get on and build it.
