Politics moved quickly over the summer. Andy Burnham entered Downing Street as our new Labour Prime Minister and the new Government has begun setting out its priorities.
I welcome the focus on putting more power closer to communities and ensuring that Government delivers tangible change in people’s lives. That principle is at the heart of our victory on Aim to Permit: the people who understand their communities best should have a meaningful say over the decisions that shape them.
Across the recess we have seen announcements on the cost of living, high streets and local businesses, housing, rough sleeping, mental health and devolution. There is much more for the Government to do, and I will continue to be a strong voice both in supporting it when it gets things right and pushing it to go further where change is needed.
