I met with Paul Whiting, Director of the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The IOPC are looking at proposals for police reform, particularly those which strengthen processes to ensure only those who are fit to practice as a police officer are permitted to join and remain in the police service and to ensure that public interest is met consistently across all areas of the force.
We explored many issues including the processes around police misconduct investigations and certain high-profile incidents and cases, rules around police vehicle stops conducted under Section 60 of the Road Traffic Act and a review of the dismissal process for police officers.
