Dawn responded to the news that victims of rape will be required to complete consent forms asking for permission to access information including emails, messages and photographs:
There is no place for sexual abuse or rape in society. This news is shameful and yet another example of the government failing to put victims first. With rape convictions at their lowest level in a decade, these new forms will do nothing to encourage more victims to come forward. We have had to constantly fight to reprogramme peoples minds and force people to rethink their attitudes towards sexual violence and rape, no means no, at any time if an individual says stop or no, that sexual activity must and should stop. These new consent forms risks giving the impression that the victim is somehow at fault, which should never be the case.
