Dawn Butler MP visits CERN in Geneva

This month I visited CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, in Geneva with the Science, Innovation & Technology Committee in the House of Commons.

The committee met CERN, which is home to the Large Hadron Collider, and representatives along with scientists, engineers and technicians to discuss the physics research and collaborations being conducted between the UK and many other countries at CERN as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.

I was particularly interested in their research related to our inquiries on UK astronomy and quantum technologies, but also the role that the UK is playing there and how it is contributing to the UK’s role as a science superpower.
