Prior to becoming an MP Dawn Butler started her career as a computer programmer/Systems Analyst, she then became a civil servant, a manager in the employment service. Her desire to represent Brent came from a desire to readdress inequality, becoming the first elected Black woman to become a government minister is an historical step but we have only just begun on our Journey.
Dawn plans to continue this journey through media, consultancy and voluntary work. As one of the countries most influential Black woman Dawn has an insight into how to deliver policy and how to get unheard voices heard.
Dawn also has a witty and sharp sense of humour which was often not seen in her serious role.
