I have been fighting for the people of Brent Central as your MP since I made my maiden speech on 2 June 2015 (you can see the speech below). My office has dealt with over 12,000 constituents' queries and problems, and I've taken issues important to the people of this area right to the top - as with the Pre-Pay Rip-off campaign that has helped save money every day for families using pre-pay meters. I was thrilled to be voted Labour MP of the Year by the Patchwork Foundation recently. This was in recognition of my work to make Parliament accessible to all, because I truly believe that Parliament is there to represent the people of this country and should be working in the interests of the many, not the few.
I'm grateful to the people of Brent Central who showed their support for Labour by re-electing me with an increased majority in June's General Election. This reflects the need of the people of Brent for a new government, one that cares about what happens to them. The Labour Party is determined to hold Theresa May's weak and unstable government to account, and I want to be a strong voice in Parliament for you.
