On 2 June 2015 I made my maiden speech as the new MP for Brent Central (you can see the speech below). Since then I have been fighting for the people of Brent Central. My office has dealt with over 12,000 constituents' queries and problems, and I've taken issues important to the people of this area right to the top - as with the Pre-Pay Rip-off campaign that has helped save money every day for families using pre-pay meters. I was thrilled to be voted Labour MP of the Year by the Patchwork Foundation recently. This was in recognition of my work to make Parliament accessible to all, because I truly believe that Parliament is there to represent the people of this country and should be working in the interests of the many, not the few.
The Tory Prime Minister called a General Election for 8 June 2017 for opportunistic political reasons, but nonetheless the Labour Party welcomes the opportunity to contest the election. I hope to be returned to Parliament as MP for Brent Central so that I can continue to work hard for the people I have loved representing for the last two years.

If you are a resident who would like assistance, I'm sorry to say that until Parliament is reconvened after the election, there are no MPs and I cannot take on new casework. You may be able to get help from your local councillors - follow this link to find out how to contact them. Otherwise please contact me again after the election when I hope to be back as your MP and in a position to be able to help you.
