It is with great sadness that over the weekend we witnessed the tragic murders of two men in the Wembley area.
On late Friday evening a shooting occurred on Harrow Road followed by a further victim that was located with head injuries in the Brent River Park on Sunday night.
I offer my sincere condolences to all the friends and family. My thoughts and prayers with them at this most difficult of times. I am available to meet with the families at their convenience. I also encourage friends and family to seek access to mental health services at this traumatic time as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can present at any time.
I have urgently met with Gold Command at the Metropolitan Police which has oversight of these incidents and who are coordinating the response on the ground. I know that both these incidents have left many people deeply worried and I have put my concerns directly to those responsible.
I am aware that the Metropolitan Police are following multiple lines of enquiry into both these incidents and are continuing to work with the Major Investigations Team to collate evidence at the scene. In direct response to these murders local police presence has been enhanced with additional units redeployed into the area including the Violent Crime Task Force as well as plain clothes patrols.
If anyone has any knowledge as to the incidents that occurred, I would urge you to please come forward. You can call the police to share any information by using the non-emergency number 101. I know however that many people may not wish to go on the record as to what they saw; in such a case you can make a witness report with complete anonymity to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers will not reveal your identity.
