Dawn Butler Labour MP for Brent Central
Dawn released the following statement after the launch of the petition which can be found here:
“At my weekly surgery on Friday I met with representatives from the Safer Kids group to discuss the serious concerns they, parents and residents in Brent have over safety concerns for children in our community. I reassured them of the work I have been doing to secure additional funding for the local community and policing.
I have held several public meetings on crime and anti-social behaviour which have all been well attended and will be holding my next meeting in May.
On Wednesday I was on a walkabout to reassure and listen to residents and businesses on Harlesden High Street after another young life was tragically cut short. There is no one solution to the problem but I am clear that cuts have consequences. This Conservative Government has torn the heart out of our community – taking away money for schools, youth services, adult social care and policing. It must stop.”
Details for the policing and crime meeting:
9th May 2019
7pm
Learie Constantine Centre, 43-47 Dudden Hill Lane, NW10 2ET.
Dawn will be joined by representatives from TfL, British Transport Police, Metropolitan Police and Brent Council.
