It is a great privilege being MP for Brent Central. Part of what makes my work so rewarding is the opportunity to connect with my constituents and share the values and principles that bring communities together.
At this time of year it is always important to look forward with optimism to the respite that holiday period can provide, as well as preparing ourselves for a better future.
Of course we must also remember those that are less fortunate, particularly at a time in society of great uncertainty. And that is why I am more determined than ever to fight for a more equal, fair and just society, where Labour Party values are a reality for people whatever their background.
It is my continued belief that everyone should have the chance to be the best that they can possibly be and make a positive contribution to the world around us.
As my dear friend, the late Jo Cox MP said: “We are far more united and have far more in common with each other, than things that divide us.”
