In a step to open up the work Dawn Butler MP does for Brent Central does on a day to day basis, Dawn has now begun publishing the letters that she sends to constituents in response to questions about her policy positions in a new page “My Letters”.
On a monthly basis Dawn will often receive between 300 – 600 letters a month about a whole variety of constituency casework. Included in this are policy enquiries on a whole range of policy issues from fox hunting to the Palestinian conflict.
Dawn, in a move towards greater transparency, has decided to begin publishing policy letters to provide insight into the positions she is taking in Parliament and also the work that she is doing on these issues.
This adds to the current “News” stream and “Dawn in Parliament” page which publishes every speech or written question Dawn makes in the House of Commons.
Dawn Butler MP said “I remember a couple of months back when the fox hunting debate was the big topic of the day and I received so many questions on the subject from Brent residents I had to work solidly through the weekend to just keep on top of them all.
It struck me that it would be great to publish my letters, so that even those constituents who didn’t contact me can find out what I will be doing on the subjects that are close to their hearts.
Please continue to contact me about the issues that are being raised in the House or that are of great concern to you and I will continue to keep you updated on my positions.”
