Dawn pops in to visit local Brent Popcorn business

Before the Christmas break Dawn went to visit one of Brent’s thriving businesses based in the Park Royal Business Estate where their expert chefs create a wide range of handmade gourmet popcorn and sauces.

During the visit Adam Sopher, Director of Joe & Seph’s, took Dawn on a visit of the kitchen walking her through the gourmet popcorn making process to give an insight into how they come up with some of the interesting combinations and an insight into some of their secrets, including how they make the popcorn so crunchy and soft.

Founded in 2010 the business has come a long way from Adam's Dad making popcorn in the kitchen of his family home to now trading around the world as a major player in the industry, winning numerous awards along the way.

After the tour Dawn sat down with members of the staff to discuss a range of topics from discussing the impact of Brexit on the company, its staff and the wider food industry, Heathrow Expansion, the need for quality local commercial space to allow for the company to expand and the positive impact that London has seen since the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan was elected.

Dawn said:

Coming from a family of Bakers I know the hard graft and dedication that goes into running a business in the food industry, and my tour around Joe & Seph’s facilities and Adam’s passion for his business shone through.

Afterwards we had an open discussion about many positive issues such as the New Mayor of London and challenging issues which many businesses in this industry are facing because of the impact that leaving the European Union will have on them.

We are blessed in Brent to have the largest business park in the UK, which not only supply’s one third of all food consumed in London but provides tens of thousands of jobs. We must ensure that we do everything to support our local Small and Medium enterprises in Brent to allow them to flourish just as Joe & Seph’s has.

I will also be looking to host a “Taste of Brent” event in Parliament next year and will look to invite businesses across Brent to take part.

Adam Sopher, Director of Joe & Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn said:

Dawn showed great enthusiasm and really got stuck in on the tour of our kitchen and offices. The whole Joe & Seph’s team really enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with Dawn to speak and about a wide variety of local and national issues and even letting us in on some of the goings on in Parliament.
