On Wednesday 13th July 2016, Dawn Butler Labour MP for Brent Central, hosted in the House of Commons the annual conference of the Non-Resident Bangladeshi Association.

The annual conference brought together prominent Bangladeshi’s from across the UK.

The conference focussed on key challenges facing the Bangladeshi community including investment facilities, banking and business.

Dawn Butler MP said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome representatives from the Bangladeshi community in the UK to the House of Commons. The UK is Bangladesh’s third largest export destination after the US and Germany so clearly there was a great deal of discussion and anxiety about the impact of Brexit on trade. This conference was a crucial opportunity to make clear our continued commitment to working closely with Bangladesh as well as to celebrate the contribution of Bangladeshi’s to the UK.”

The conference was also joined by Mayor of Brent, Cllr Parvez Ahmed.

Cllr Parvez Ahmed, Mayor of Brent, said:

“I was honoured to attend the Non-Resident Bangladeshi UK conference representing the London Borough of Brent alongside Dawn Butler MP. The NRB conference series is a time when representatives from across the community can come together to debate issues of mutual concern to Bangladeshis living overseas. This was a valuable opportunity to put these issue to Members of Parliament.”
