Dawn Butler, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Brent Central has launched a campaign encouraging voters to register for a postal vote before the 21 April deadline.
In the last year one million voters have disappeared from the Electoral Register across the country.
The sharp decline in the number of registered voters only amplifies a long-term problem which has seen turnout fall dramatically in recent elections.
Dawn Butler, Labour candidate for Brent Central, said: “We don’t want even more people to miss out because for one reason or another they don’t make it to the polling station on Election Day.”
“Every election thousands of people miss out on having their say. It’s going to be a close battle here in Brent Central, and every vote will count, so apply for a postal vote now and ensure your voice is heard.”
The campaign comes off the back of Labour’s recent announcement that the party hopes to get more people back on the electoral register nationwide.
Voters have until Monday 20 April to register to vote and until Tuesday 21 April to register for a postal vote.
